20 years of Miles in Minehead

Directors launch the new coffee with MP Ian Liddell-GraingerWe recently celebrated our 20th anniversary for producing our quality tea in the coastal town of Minehead. To celebrate the occasion, local MP Ian Liddell-Grainger visited for morning coffee.

The Miles family have been producing tea and coffee for over 120 years, the business relocated from the midlands to Somerset in the 1960’s. Two decades ago tea production moved from Porlock to a purpose built factory in Minehead where millions of teabags are produced every month.

MP Ian Liddell-Grainger was also invited to launch something hot off the Roaster, a dazzling new range of Miles coffee packaging. A full tour of the tea production line in Minehead and coffee production in Porlock followed, Ian said ‘It has been a real privilege to visit the Miles factory 20 years after MP Tom King opened the site. It has been fantastic to officially launch the new coffee packaging and hear the Miles vision from the board of directors’.

John Cridge Managing Director said ‘One of the major changes with the new coffee is a large investment in printing bespoke packaging for each of Miles best selling ground coffees.’

The latest coffee to launch is the ‘Rich and Reviving’ blend (previously  known as 'After Dinner') in time for the Autumn. The pack has a striking firework design ready to give some energy and motivation reflecting a burst of the fresh coffee inside. The blend is a roast of Central American Arabica beans, roasted a little longer to develop a deep, rich flavour. Other blends inlcude ‘Bright and Breezy’ (previously known as ‘Mr Miles blend’), supported by ‘Cheerfully Colombian’ and ‘Delightfully Decaffeinated’. Miles also offer a range of speciality roasts with a variety of flavours and strengths to suit all their coffee drinkers.
