Doi Chaang is a delightful fully washed coffee grown in the remote mountainous region of Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand. The region is in the notorious “Golden Triangle” alongside Burma and Laos, where Opium growing has long been the main way of life.
This coffee is specially roasted per order, so for this reason any orders that include Doi Chang may take 1-2 days extra on delivery times. This is also to ensure that you receive the freshest Doi Chang available.
In order to break away from the oppressive and dangerous Opium trade, the Doi Chaang community have started their own coffee plantations. Growing under shade canopies of fruit and macadamia nut trees, the coffee has a rich rounded body with smooth chocolaty notes – ideal for all day drinking.
We pay the farmers a higher price than recommended by Fairtrade. The community retains this premium enabling them to decide on their own social projects. The Akhha tribes people regard this coffee as their gateway to long term sustainability and as a means to achieve a secure future for their families and their livelihoods.
An ideal all day drinking coffee with smooth chocolatey notes and medium body.

To Keep our friends abreast of our commitment and development in green issues, and how we are achieving sustainability and rejuvenation of the Akha Tribe culture in Northern Thailand - We maintain on our website 'Doichaancoffee.co.uk', facebook, twitter etc. which provides full details of our commitment to the Akha Tribe. We are proud to be closely linked to the Akha tribe, of Northern Thailand, where Doi Chaang Coffee is grown and is not only 50% grower owned but the Akha tribe farmers also receive above Fairtrade prices through our ‘Doi Chaang Company’ for the organically grown top A grade coffee beans. This is recognised by having our logo 'Beyond Fair Trade' official registered and recognised that ensures improvement of living standards and sustainability of the Akha Tribe in Northern Thailand, re-vitalising the Akha Tribe culture including re-forestation of Doi Chaang Region (translated as Elephant Mountain - the the mountainous region from a distance looks like the humps on the elephants back), whilst achieving sustainability and employment in the region. As a result we can provide guarantee of the quality, and traceability of the coffee from the time it is planted, grown, sorted, roasted and packaged to being received and consumed by the purchaser.
